Designed for those with little or no upholstery experience Amy Lainchbury will teach the basic skills of traditional upholstery such as webbing, stuffing with hair and recovering. You will need to bring a dining chair with a 'loose' or drop in seat. This will be the second time we have worked with Amy whose engaging manner and expert eye has made her a popular teacher with Lewis & Wood customers. more

Lampshade Making 16th Oct

Famous for making a stunning lampshade for Kirsty Allsop on Channel 4's hit series 'Kirsty's Homemade Home' Eileen Garsed will show you how to make a 10 inch fabric drum lampshade in a day. This style is highly versatile and can be used with either a lamp base or as a hanging shade from the ceiling. Eileen will provide all the materials, instruction and inspiration you need to create your own lampshade. more

Roman Blinds 9th Oct

A stylish answer for any window Lesley Duro will show you how to make a Roman blind and provide all the essential bits and pieces that are required for this simple and classic window treatment. At the end of the day you will be equipped with all the techniques and skills to go home and make up your own blinds. more

Bookbinding 2nd Oct

During this hands on workshop you will learn how to make a fantastically adaptable concertina book and some pamphlet books using Lewis & Wood wallpapers. These kinds of books lend themselves to scrapbooks, photo albums or notebooks. Katherine O'Connell is the resident bookbinder at the New Brewery Arts Centre in Cirencester. All materials will be provided. more

Curtain Making 25th Sept

With 15 years experience running her own curtain making business Sally Anne Edwards's course will involve making a traditionally hand lined, tape headed curtain, with mitred corners. This workshop will give you the confidence to make a set of curtains from scratch. Sally will provide the lining you need and we'll have sewing machines available or please feel free to bring your own. more

Block Printing 18th Sept

Jenny Stringer is an extremely talented fabric designer and the creator of one of Lewis & Wood's best selling designs from our charming Wit & Wisdom collection. An experienced workshop leader, Jenny will guide you in the art of block printing and at the end of the day you will leave with a complete cushion. All materials will be provided including a cushion pad. more

Patchwork 11th Sept

Learn to make a quilt top in a day using mass production secrets under the guidance of star quilt maker Alison Campbell-Black. Alison who has worked with Ralph Lauren in New York and renowned textile artist Kaffe Fassett, also teaches at Bath University and the American Museum in Bath. So feel free to bring all your large remnants or pick up some bargains in the Lewis & Wood shop on the day. more
